Background
Over the last decade, clean energy innovation has been happening around the globe as evidenced by decreasing prices on renewable energy installations and the availability of a plethora of energy-efficient
equipment and appliances. However, it is not happening at a speed that would allow to effectively implement the Paris Agreement and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Acceleration in clean
energy innovation, deployment and scale up is required both for the development of cutting-edge and state-of-the-art technologies and for the introduction of new break-through financial options for
demonstration, testing and deployment of these technologies.
Scope
This side-event will discuss the innovative tools and instruments available to accelerate the transition to affordable and access to energy for all. Finance, technology, international collaboration, capacity
building and national championship are the key levers we will address for the deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency in Asia and Pacific for the achievement of SDG Goal 7.
Key Questions
How can countries in Asia and the Pacific accelerate renewable energy deployment and improve energy efficiency to achieve SDG7- affordable and clean energy?
