About the Climate Change Commission
As the lead climate change policymaking body of the Government of the Philippines, the Climate Change Commission (CCC) is mandated to review and recommend policies, as well as coordinate, monitor, and evaluate projects and programs in ensuring that climate action is mainstreamed into the country’s development plans.
For the CCC, adaptation is key at the local level where communities experience the brunt of climate impacts. Through the Communities for Resilience (CORE) Convergence Program, the CCC aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of local government units in climate science and finance, as a way for them to formulate their own local climate change action plans (LCCAPs) and access the People’s Survival Fund (PSF), a climate finance mechanism funded by the national government.
Enhancing public awareness and disseminating climate information continue to be an integral part of the CCC agenda, as it recently launched the National Integrated Climate Change Database Information and Exchange System (NICCDIES), an online portal of climate action across key sectors.
Convergence with stakeholders is critical for the CCC, especially in pursuing various undertakings, such as updating the National Climate Change Action Plan (NCCAP); finalizing the Philippine Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and National Adaptation Plan (NAP); and pioneering the development of assessment standards for green jobs certification.
