How it fits into the EbA concept

SRI helps farmers produce more rice at lower cost within a shorter period with fewer inputs of seeds and water, and harmful fertilizers and pesticides that decrease soil fertility and pollute water. The sustainable use of the ecosystems enhances the availability of natural resources important to their livelihoods. The reduction of water use for rice planting allows them to allocate more water for other purposes. Also, they increased yields of not only rice, but also of vegetables and livestock products that they got to spend more time in growing.
