Description of Intervention
The project will try to strengthen the institutional and technical capacity of Sri Lanka in incorporating climate change concerns to the country’s planning which would help the country while preparing its second National communication to the UNFCCC.
Problems to be Addressed
Lack of institutional capacity in incorporating climate change concern in the states planning.
Aims
Development of national capacities and raise knowledge and awareness as part of the framework for national action and extreme assistance for effective global environmental management.
Objectives
Main objectives of the study are as follows:
• Information on national circumstances;
• GHG inventory;
• Programme to facilitate measures to facilitate adequate adaptation to climate change;
• Programme containing measures to mitigate climate change; and
• Other information considered relevant for fulfilling the objective of the convention.
How it fits into the EbA concept
The project aims at capacity building of Sri Lanka in preparing its Second National Communication to the UNFCCC. Since the project supports in designing adaptation strategies for the country, it fits into the CCA concept.
