Participatory Action Research on Climate Risk Management, Bangladesh

SHARE THIS PAGE:

This report summarises findings from vulnerability and needs assessments conducted in four villages of Bangladesh that are experiencing different levels of soil salinity. It reviews the strengths and weaknesses of the current coping strategies as well as the potential of an index-based insurance scheme, designed diversification, and better information products to improve adaptive capacity. Different intervention schemes are recommended to address key concerns that vary according to the level of soil salinity. These include integrated paddy and prawn/freshwater shrimps/carp production followed by vegetable production, rainwater harvesting, and integrated shrimp and paddy production.
