Mountains, despite being a source of rich biodiversity that provides organic food, forest products and natural medicines, are all at risk from a diverse set of climate change impact. The future of mountains and mountain people got a long needed boost at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, commonly known as Rio+20, which concluded in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 22.
