Mainstreaming Adaptation into Local Development Planning: A Case Study in Chainat, Thailand

SHARE THIS PAGE:

The main objectives of this case study were to understand climate risks and uncertainties inherent in local communities and demonstrate the integration of climate change adaptation into local development plans. The study concluded that raising awareness about climate risks and variability, communicating climate-related information, and fostering public engagement are central to the integration of climate change adaptation into community development plans. The community’s vulnerability to climate change can be significantly reduced if government officials work with the local agriculture office, community leaders, farmers’ groups and other stakeholders to plan and implement adaptation actions
