CLIMATE CHANGE ADAPTATION: Engaging Business in Asia

This report examines the current state of business engagement on climate change adaptation and indentifies key barriers to greater private sector involvement. It aims to initiate a discussion on the business case for adapting to long-term climate change impacts and the need to improve incentives for action. The report links climate change adaptation to development and outlines ways that businesses can build on existing CSR practices to address adaptation needs in the region’s most vulnerable communities.
The report is based on a series of business and multi-stakeholder dialogues on the role of the private sector in climate change adaptation. These dialogues were designed to initiate and facilitate an engagement process that would produce a better understanding of the barriers and opportunities to harnessing the innovative capacity of businesses to tackle the risks of climate change, both along their value chains and within their sphere of influence.
