The latest ‘Inside Story on Climate Compatible Development’ from CDKN describes how the Philippines is seeking to build climate resilience at the local level. To increase its resilience to climate change, the Philippines has recently implemented a strong, coordinated strategy to mainstream climate compatible development into local planning. The Philippines’ Climate Change Act establishes a legal and institutional framework for climate change governance. In this new publication, CDKN explores what it will take for this climate program to succeed. They conclude that the successful devolution of climate change strategies to the local government level will require effective coordination and support at the national level, through finance and capacity building.
