CARE International’s initiatives toward community-based mangrove management in responding to climate change

CARE International, the chair of the NGO Climate Change Working Group (CCWG) in Viet Nam, has conducted various policy dialogues on climate change issues under the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Environment of Viet Nam. A draft workshop report on community-based mangrove management for climate change adaptation informs legal and Institutional frameworks on mangrove development and its good practices as well as challenges on the allocation of mangroves in communities. A recent publication through the Ecosystems and Livelihoods Adaptation Network (ELAN) titled Community-based Mangrove Reforestation and Management in Da Loc, Vietnam shares lessons learnt and success and risk factors for sustainability and replicability of the mangrove management.
