The Pacific Sub Annual Conference of the Asia Pacific Adaptation Network (APAN) was held as a one day event at the campus of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) on February 25th, 2015, in Apia, Samoa.

SPREP has been a sub regional node of APAN since 2011.  This APAN Annual Conference was one of the activities of this on-going partnership between SPREP and APAN, in an attempt to strengthen the relationship between APAN and its sub-regional nodes.

This conference was attended by national climate change focal points and their designated authorities from six Pacific Island Countries (Cook Islands, Tuvalu, Palau, Fiji, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands).  Additionally, the workshop was attended by key members of the SPREP Climate Change and Communications Divisions, with observers also attending from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) from Rome.

This year’s Annual Conference was held in conjunction with a series of back to back meetings, including one focusing on food security and climate change adaptation (23 – 24 February), co-sponsored by FAO and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) and one on climate change adaptation (26 – 27 Feb) co-sponsored by UNDP through its Climate Vulnerable Forum. This Conference was made possible with not only funding provided directly through APAN but also additional resources provided by SPREP (in kind services through the provision of facilitators and organizing staff); United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Geneva (who funded participants travel costs) and FAO.
